The magnetic disks or platter is part of the assembly of a hard disk and describes one or more rotatable, attached disk(s), which are mounted one above the other on a spindle. The data carrier surface of the magnetic disks stores the data - with the help of the movable read/write heads - in magnetic form on the data layer.
