FileMaker is a proprietary database system which runs under Mac OS X and Windows. The risk of losing data is increased in comparison to similar database applications. This is due to the fact that is doesn't use transaction logic (= a series of predefined program steps that keep the database in a consistent and functional state after making changes) but read/write accesses directly via the ODBC (Open Database Connectivity). Also, it saves logic, data and design in one single file.
That file's ending depends on the database version used (e.g. „.fp3“ for version 3, „.fp5“ for version 5 and „.fp7“ for versions 7 to 11). Every database file since version 12 ends in „.fmp12“.
The Attingo technicians developed special methods for reconstructing FileMaker data and memo data, even if data sets were deleted or are inconsistent. Our engineers know how database files are constructed. Consistency and integrity are crucial when it comes to database applications. The reconstructed data is only useful if it can be clearly defined, which datasets and relations include correct data. A professional verification of the relations and plausibility checks of the areas is necessary in many cases.
Attingo Data rescue has over 27 years of experience in the recovery of FileMaker databases.
